Big emotions

Thinking about big emotions

We all have little and big emotions sometimes. What might make a big emotion happen?

Let’s think about our emotions like a fuse on a rocket. What sorts of things might make it goes off?

I'm really worried about my homework.

Fire work

I've just got a tummy ache and a headache as well.

A firework with the fuse lit.

My family are cross with me too now.

A lit firework with the heat travelling along the fuse.

Did I say I had a fight with my best friend?

A firework with the heat travelling even further along the fuse.

My mum says Gran is coming to live with us as she isn't well. I'm so worried about her.

A lit firework with the heat running along the fuse even closer to the firework than before.

BOOM!

All these things can make our fuse shorter and if they carry on for a long time they can set the rocket off! When the rocket explodes we can feel like our emotions are too much to manage. We might feel very sad, worried or angry.
